Breath Busting Dog Treats

As Seen in “Dognapping”

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup oats (Scottish preferably)
  • 1 cup wheat bran
  • 1/2 cup dry skim milk powder
  • 1 cup chicken stock, low sodium, no onions
  • 1/3 cup coconut oil, melted
  • 1/2 cup parsley
  • 1/2 cup mint
  • 1/2 tsp salt

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Begin by adding all of your dry ingredients to your bowl – 2 cups whole wheat flour, one cup of Scottish oats, one cup of wheat bran,1/2 cup of  dry skim milk powder, and a teaspoon of salt and mix together.

Next, add the cup of chicken stock and ½ cup melted coconut oil to the dry ingredients.

Chop a half cup each of fresh parsley and fresh mint.  It’s easiest to use a stand mixer or a food processor to make a dough ball, but you can do it by hand as well.

Sprinkle a bit of flour on cutting board and roll to desired thickness.

Use any cookie cutter to make shapes.

And we’re ready to bake these breath busting dog treats!

They go in at three hundred and fifty degrees for 20 minutes.  You can leave them in your oven as it cools down even overnight to get them harder.

Note: This recipe is not meant to replace a balanced diet for your dog.  It is advisable to consult with a canine nutritionist or vet before feeding any new foods to your dog.
