ABOUT CANDICE BATISTA
Candice Batista is an environmental journalist, green lifestyle expert and television host.
She is also one of the few Canadians chosen by The Climate Project (which supports more than 3,000 diverse and dedicated volunteers worldwide) to be personally trained by former U.S. Vice President and Nobel Laureate Al Gore.
As part of Gore’s Climate Project, Candice volunteers her time to educate the public and raise awareness about climate change by presenting The Inconvenient Truth slide presentation.
To date, Candice has created, hosted and produced two ecologically themed television shows. A Greener Toronto on Rogers TV showcases how Torontonians are fostering and facilitating environmental stewardship. Global Footprints on ichannel takes a hard look at the big issues facing humankind today as well as showcasing the innovative solutions. Topics include deforestation, urbanization, waste issues, transportation issues and more.
Previously, her interest in environmental issues led her to meteorology, culminating in four years at Canada’s The Weather Network, and earning her an endorsement from the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society. Candice has also received the intriguing designation of “Earth Angel” from the Toronto Star for her environment work.
Along with being a pioneer in green television programming in Canada, she is also the host and associate producer of Pet Central on The Pet Network, a show Candice calls her “guilty pleasure”. In 2009, Air Miles came calling, naming Candice their national spokesperson for the company’s My Planet Campaign.
Candice has appeared on countless television and radio shows. She has hosted and emceed over 100 green events in the city, including, the Green Living Show, Greener Greater Toronto’s Partners Event and Car Free Day and more. She also gives speeches on global warming along with hosting a popular Lunch n’ Learn series on how to green your home and save money.
Along with her TV show’s, Candice is also a partner in www.evolutiongreen.com. EvolutionGreen is a hub of expertise for corporations, governments, and community groups to get connected with expert speakers who can inspire, engage and enable stakeholders in conversations and solutions about sustainability.
Candice is currently writing her first book and holds a Bachelor’s degree in History and a post-graduate degree in Broadcast Journalism.
